In addition, transportation is offered by taxis-dolmushs between central districts like Alsancak-Konak, Konak-Yenişehir, and Konak-Kahramanlar, as well as via minibuses-dolmushs between central districts like Bornova-Karşıyaka, Bornova-Buca, Bornova-Gaziemir, Çiğli-Bornova, and Balçova-İnciraltı.

Driving in İzmir can be challenging because of traffic and narrow streets. İzmir is a tough city to drive a car in, particularly at peak times. İzmir has a well-developed public transport system, which is often the quickest way to get around.

After entering the country visitors, foreign nationals, and even Turkish citizens are permitted to use their foreign driver’s license for up to six months. At the conclusion of six months, you must replace your current driving license with a Turkish driving license.
Turkish nationals having foreign driver’s licenses may use them for up to two years without approval from Türkiye. After six months of entrance into Türkiye, the driver’s license must be translated with a notary’s approval or Turkish consulate.

All drivers and passengers must wear seatbelts where fitted. Car seats or appropriate restraints are required for children. Motorcyclists must wear a helmet.

- Only yellow and black luxury cabs can be hailed in the street.
- Yellow cabs are metered, and the minimum charge is 20.00 TRY
- Ask prices beforehand.

Except yellow cabs and some black luxury taxis the others are illegal. You may be approached by fake drivers seeking passengers or offering a service, but these should be avoided because they are unlicensed and uninsured.
- Only yellow and luxury black cabs can be stopped by customers and can pick up off the street.
